Roland Edgar Conrad, Jr., age 76

Roland Edgar Conrad, Jr., age 76 of Ellenboro passed away February 2, 2018.

Roland was born February 5, 1941 in Gastonia, and was a son of the late Roland Edgar Conrad, Sr., and Bertie Lee Sosebee Conrad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City and spent 25 years working for Public Service of NC. When he retired from Public Service, he started a Transport Delivery Service in which he operated until his retirement. Roland proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He never met a stranger and loved children and his pets. He and his wife traveled with the church youth on mission trips as both chaperones and mentors.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Claudia Hill Conrad, a son, Roland E. (Trei) Conrad, III of Ellenboro, a daughter, Chandra Renee Conrad McGinnis of Ellenboro, a brother, Michael Glen Conrad and wife Becky of Gastonia, five grandchildren, two of which he considered of his own and a special neighborhood boy.

A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church of Forest City. Rev Dr. Garin Hill and Rev Tony Spencer officiated.
