Rowann Bailey Carpenter, age 88

Rowann Bailey Carpenter, age 88 of Rutherfordton died Saturday, June 25, 2022.

She was born in Rutherford County on June 4, 1934, and was a daughter of the late Branchville and Gertrude Lyles Bailey. Rowann was a member of the Long Branch Road Baptist Church and a graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale High School. She worked for the Rutherford County Department of Social Services until retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Donald J. Carpenter, son, Donald Terry Carpenter of Jonas Ridge, daughter, Kim Carpenter Newton and husband Mike of Forest City, brother, Wendell Bailey and wife Beckie of Bostic, sister, Sharon Haire and husband John of Clemmons, one grandson, and one great-grandson.

A service from the graveside was held June 28 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry Ruppe officiating.
