Ruth Bumgarner, age 80

Ruth Bumgarner, age 80, of Bostic, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Ruth was born April 30, 1938 in Cleveland County to the late Brantley Brackett and Nancy Pauline McNeilly Brackett. She worked for Broyhill Furniture for over twenty-seven years before retirement and was a member of Grace Missionary Methodist Church. Ruth enjoyed flower gardening, cooking for her family, working on word puzzles and coloring picture books.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, J.H. Bumgarner, Jr.; three brothers, Harrill, Jerry and Donald Brackett and a great-granddaughter.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Carol Smith (Michael) of Collettsville, NC and Elaine Holland (Bill) of Golden Valley; son, Danny Bumgarner (Julie) of Sunshine; seven sisters, Louise Montgomery of Casar, Marie Hoyle of Casar, Diane Newton (James) of Shelby, Linda Shope (Lloyd) of Shelby, Jeannette Allen-McCurry (Loyd) of Casar, Marilyn Gantt (Ricky) of Shelby and Carolyn Shuford (Alan) of Longview, NC; two brothers, Ray Brackett and Steve Brackett (Trudy) all of Casar. Ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews also survive her.

The funeral service was conducted at the Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
