The Rutherford County Farmers Market is pleased to announce an added evening market to better connect customers with farm-fresh products throughout the week. The market will be open Tuesday evenings from 4:30PM to 7:00PM. The market has also extended its normal Saturday hours -- now open Saturdays from 8:00AM to 12:30PM -- to give shoppers more time to browse and buy local goods.

The market management team put out a survey and customers overwhelmingly supported a weekday market. The team hopes the new hours will help bring the freshest produce and goods directly from farm to table when harvests are at their peak, and the extended Saturday schedule will provide added flexibility for weekend shoppers.

The market accepts SNAP benefits, and participating shoppers can use their EBT cards on-site.

Rutherford County Farmers Market also participates in the Double Up Food Bucks program. This program is supported through partnerships and regional initiatives involving organizations such as the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP) and other local food access partners, that helps improve access to healthy food while supporting local farmers. This program allows SNAP recipients to receive up to an additional $20 in tokens to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables free of charge -- helping families stretch their food dollar while choosing healthier options. Ask the market manager or a vendor for details on how to redeem benefits and Double Up matches.

Shoppers can expect a wide variety of farm-fresh items, including local produce, meats (beef, pork, chicken, goat, and lamb), honey and beeswax products, baked goods, handmade items, and eggs (chicken, duck, and turkey) and more.

The Rutherford County Farmers Market is located at 172 Park Square, Forest City, across from POPS, and invites neighbors and visitors alike to join them on Tuesday evenings and extended Saturday mornings to support local agriculture and enjoy seasonal offerings.
