Rutherfordton Fire Station #2 opens

Townspeople and nearby residents of the Rutherfordton Fire Station #2 attended a ribbon cutting and open house recently at the new station located on Baber Road, Rutherfordton.

A hose uncoupling ceremony was held with firefighters, town staff, friends and family participating as the doors were officially opened for service.

This station will improve property insurance rates for many, provide coverage for residents that were previously considered unprotected due to the distance from a fire station, and most of all improve emergency response times.

"A special thank you to our team of firefighters who go above and beyond every day to serve the community, y'all are awesome," Fire Chief Brandon Harrill said.
