Sheldon Ray Ramsey, age 91

Sheldon Ray Ramsey, age 91 passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023.

A native of Cleveland County, NC; Ray was a retired supervisor for Pike Electric with 43 years of service and a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War where he received The Purple Heart with three Oak Leaf Clusters for wounds received in battle. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, a Life Member of VFW Post #4066 and a Life Member of DAV Post #25.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Childers Ramsey; son, Douglas Kyle Ramsey (Judith); daughters, Rita Ray Gary (Bill) and Lori Lynn Norville (Chuck); sisters, Nell Brooks and Dorothy Davis; eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Thomas Ramsey and Beulah Robbins Ramsey and one grandson, John Mark Gary.

Funeral services were held May 21, 2023 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Raymond Byrd officiating.

Concluding services were held May 23 at The Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
