Shirley Ann Godfrey Haynes, age 85 of Shelby

Shirley Ann Godfrey Haynes, age 85 of Shelby, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Shirley was born February 8, 1941, in Rutherford County.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Gaither and Katie Smith Godfrey, and her son, Charles Anthony Haynes, known as "Chuck".

She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School in the class of 1959 and King's Business College in Shelby. Shirley was also a member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church.

She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Ralph Haynes, her cousins, Phillip Godfrey and Judy Ammonand several nieces and nephews.

Shirley had a special place in her heart for her extended family and close friends, including Larry and Lou Andrews, and Aaron, Ashley, and Kolton Suggs.

The funeral service was held April 7 at Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Rev. Chad Sisk officiating.

Memorials may be made to Charles Anthony Haynes Scholarship Fund at Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church in care of Ralph Haynes, 2513 S. White Oak Dr., Shelby, NC 28150.
