The Rutherfordton and Forest City police departments held Shop With a Cop events for children in their respective towns. Rutherfordton police officers hosted 32 children for the event on December 12.

Officers said it was truly an amazing and wonderful feeling to see Christmas through the eyes of a child. Officers said shopping with the children reminded them of how fortunate most people really are.

"We are so grateful that we had this opportunity to do something special for these families. This wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of those that wear the badge, the generous donations, and to everyone that helped us make this day possible," said one officer.

The Forest City Police Department held its annual Shop with a Cop on December 10 which provided a fun filled morning with lots of fun, smiles, and laughter for six children in need this year. One officer said, "It is such an honor and privilege to be able to provide assistance to our community during such trying times, especially this year." Forest City officers also thank all who made the day special for the children.
