Speech, Debate team completes season

The East Rutherford Cavalier Speech and Debate team competed in their final event of the season, the Carolina West district NSDA National Qualifying tournament. This was a grueling two day event featuring the best of the best from across Western North Carolina.

Placing first or second in rounds of individual events or winning single flights of debate were Tera Crawford and Rachel Roberson.

The duo team of Ollie Parton and Kayla Webb made it to finals in duo interpretation. Parton and Webb placed third overall earning them the 1st alternate spot to Nationals.

Kayla Webb also made it to Finals in Dramatic Interpretation along with teammate Kali Thurman.

Kali was named 1st alternate and Kayla just behind as 2nd alternate. Kayla, Ollie, and Rachel have all placed on the East Rutherford All-time NSDA points list claiming the 1st, 2nd, and 7th spots respectively.

"We had an excellent season this year, and I couldn't be more proud of my students," said Coach J. Patrick Moss.
