Stanley Keith Dobbins, age 69

Stanley Keith Dobbins, age 69 of Bostic, died Saturday, October 15, 2022.

Keith was born June 10, 1953, and was a son of the late Clyde Miller "Gene" Dobbins and Mary Sue Dycus Dobbins. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Bostic.

Keith was a graduate of East Rutherford High School. He was first a deputy with the Rutherford County Sheriffs Department until he joined the Spindale Police Department. Keith later went on to work for the Forest City Police Department, and then returned to the Rutherford County Sheriffs Department.

When the D.A.R.E. program was introduced in the Rutherford County Schools, Keith became the first D.A.R.E. officer in Rutherford County. He was also an investigator for the school system, a position he held for 16 years until retirement.

Keith served on the Bostic Town Council and was currently Mayor Pro Tem. His work as an elected official spanned 34 years in total.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Crook Dobbins, sons Chris Dobbins (Elizabeth) of Shelby, Greg Dobbins (Bree) of Stuart, FL, daughter Leslie Dobbins (Lindsi) of Bostic, three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held October 21 in The Padgett and King Chapel.
