Stronger Together Community Worship service is Sunday

The 3rd Stronger Together worship service will be held Sunday, July 30 at 11am at R-S Central High School.

Pastor/Dr. In-Yong Lee will be leading the service. Rev. Stencil Quarles, pastor of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus will be guest speaker. The service is expected to last about 1.5 hours.

Special Music will be presented by the First United Methodist (FMC) Church, Rutherfordton, Neon Worship Band and the Youth Community Choir.

Other directors and accompanists will be Jimmy Hamilton, Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church; Patricia Harrelson, First UMC, Rutherfordton; R.J.Aiken, Piney Ridge CME Church, Union Mills and Stephen Stone, First UMC, Rutherfordton

Dr. Lee, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Rutherfordton, said, "We are very happy to continue this twice a year community service. We are actually defying the well known fact that Sunday at 11am is the most segregated time in America by getting together at 11am."

Lee said the purpose of the gatherings is to help the Rutherford County community to be stronger together.

She asks that all those attending follow the parking signs (balloons) that will be placed at the driveway to lead people to parking in the rear of the school.

Offerings for the day will go to "Loving Arms" with The Source Church. The Loving Arms Food Ministry serves Rutherford County with food and other resources every other Wednesday from 11am until 4pm at The Source Ministries at 661 West Main Street in Forest City.

Others participating in the program Sunday are Rev. Pat Jobe, call to worship; opening prayer by Rev. Henry Kerns; Dr. Garin Hill, Rev. Stephen Stone.

Pastors leading the prayers of the people are: Substance abuse and mental health, Rev. Tonya Garrison; housing and homelessness, Rev. Steve Chappell; leadership in the community, county, and nation, Rev. Robert Godfrey; criminal justice, Rev. Jimmy Hamilton, Dr. In-Yong Lee will offer the Lord's Prayer.

The public is encouraged to attend.

Lunch will not be served.
