The Leader of the Pack is Back

   After a successful first event it seemed as though the Leader of the Pack 5K & Fun Run was one for the memory books. Birthed by the 2010 Class of Leadership Rutherford for the benefit of Communities In Schools of Rutherford County, the class was over and there was no one to carry on. The Board of CISRC went to the Board of Leadership Rutherford and asked to take the race on as their own. Everyone agreed this was a good solution. Returning for their second year of working to see the race is a success are Mandy Huffman of Lifestyle Health and Fitness (our title sponsors), Jay Jackson and Jason Ruff members of the Leadership Rutherford Class of 2010 and Savang & Jean Moua (Savang represents the Class of 2011). Those members are joined by CISRC Board Members, Julie Scherer, Beth Miller, Karen Moore, Laura White and Brenda Watson.

   Sponsors already in place in support of our county’s students and the programs provided by CISRC are title sponsor Lifestyle Health and Fitness, Gold Sponsors are Rutherford Pediatrics and Forest City Rotary Club; Silver Sponsors include Frank and Tracy Faucette of Edward Jones, Asheville Cardiology Associates and Odom Engineering; Bronze Sponsors include Beth Sitton, CPA and Holland & Hamrick Architects. There is a Platinum Sponsor soon to be announced, along with additional Gold Sponsors.

   Leader of the Pack 5K & Fun Run will be Saturday, May 14, at 7:30AM starting at McNair Field, Forest City. Pre-registration fee for K-12th will be $15 on Race Day it is 20; Pre-registration for adults is $20, Race day it is $25; the first 250 registered are guaranteed a t-shirt for the race. If you are not a runner or walker, you can be a “Ghost Runner” for $35. This allows you to support CISRC and still get a t-shirt from the run.

   New this year is the School Cup for the school with the most supporters/participants registered for the two events.
