Thomas Ray Green, age 78

Thomas Ray Green, age 78 of Forest City died Thursday, September 14, 2023.

Ray was born July 11,1945, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Grover Crayton Green and Grace Brindle Green.

He graduated in the first class at East Rutherford High School in 1963. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country in Vietnam. After completing his military service, Ray continued his education at Isothermal Community College and Garder-Webb College.

Ray began his career working for Kimbrell's Furniture in Forest City as the store's Assistant manager. He later became manager and held that position for 32 years. Ray worked his entire career with Kimbrell's, retiring in 2010.

He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a member of the Forest City Kiwanis Club and was named Kiwanis Citizen of the Year.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna Robbins Green, his daughter, Tonya Dedmon of Spindale, his sons, Ryan Green and wife Jessica of Forest City and Regan Green and wife Jennifer of Greer, SC, his brothers, Joel Green of Mooresboro and Jeff Green of Forest City, and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held September 18 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Rev. Matt Mills and Rev. Pat Jobe officiating. Military Honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
