It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude for his life of service that the family of Thomas "Tommy" Jeffery Raye, 53, of Bostic, NC, announce his passing Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Born in Spartanburg, SC January 22, 1973, Tommy was the son of Bill Raye. Following his graduation from high school, he answered the call to public service. Tommy dedicated over 30+ years to law enforcement, serving as a Nationally Registered Paramedic, Instructor for EMS, Sheriff's Deputy, Police Officer, Fire Fighter and Chief of Local Rescue Squads. He mentored countless new recruits, responded to innumerable emergencies. His commitment to public safety left an indelible mark on both his colleagues and the citizens he served. He was past Master of Cliffside Masonic Lodge #460. He was also a member of the Oasis Shriners.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 22 years, Danieal Bennick Raye; his father, Bill Raye; his brother, Wayne Russell; his children, Cam Raye, Chye Raye, Brandy Raye, Andy Raye (Mayra), Daniel Martin (Chelsey), Austin Weaver, Randy Weaver, and Andrew Weaver; his grandchildren, Cam Raye, Izzy Marlowe, Scarlett Shipman, Cora Martin, Eleanor Martin, Theodore Martin, Gabriel Alvarez, Emily Layton, and Leevi Weaver.

A Gathering of Family and Friends was held July 18 at Camp Bud Schiele with Rutherford County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard and Masonic Funeral Rights conducted by Cliffside Masonic Lodge #460.
