The Washburn Community Outreach Center thrift store volunteers (left to right) Jane Olivier, Debbie Brower, Ruth Grier and Rita Metcalf, are always ready to help customers find treasurers, clothes, household goods and much more as they shop the store. They are shown above in the donation room getting ready for another day's work. The thrift store is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 12:45pm. There is a $2 bag sale for up to 15 items.

As the thrift store volunteers work, other volunteers are outside the center packing and loading free food boxes for all qualified Rutherford County residents. Food is distributed on Thursday and Friday from 9am to 12:45pm. All eligible clients are encouraged to come each week to receive a free box of food. The Center is located on Piney Mountain Church Road, near Washburn General Store in Bostic.

Anita Behrns is the center's director.
