Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity has received a $25,000 grant from the Timken Foundation of Canton, Ohio. The grant funds totaling $25,000 will be allocated for building a new home for a low-income family in Rutherford County.

For over 10 years, the Timken Foundation has been a strong supporter and sponsor of Habitat's mission of putting God's love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope with the goal of eliminating substandard housing and to build safe, decent and affordable housing for low to moderate income families in Rutherford County.

The check was presented by Paul Weidman, Human Resources and EHS Manager of the Timken facility in Rutherfordton at Habitat.

Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and is a nonprofit housing ministry which started as the vision of a county resident who saw the need for housing for low-income families. She helped start our affiliate in 1987. The first Habitat house was built in 1988. Thirty-five years later, Habitat's mission still is to eliminate substandard housing and to build safe, decent, affordable housing for low-to-moderate income families continues. Today Habitat has built 87 houses throughout Rutherford County including a subdivision, Hopeview Estates, located in Spindale and is currently working on a major community revitalization project also located in Spindale.
