A student/athlete at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and resident of Cleveland County recently participated in the AAU Junior Olympic Games track and field events at Humble High School in Humble, Texas. Trinity Chambers of Boiling Springs participated in the 100, 200, 4x1 and triple jump.

"I placed 63rd in 100, 61st in 200, Triple jump 39th," Trinity said, adding she looks forward to participating again. "I learned that it takes hard work and practice to get better."

The event was the largest youth multi-sport competition in the United States, with athletes ages 8 to 18 competing. Track and field events were held at Humble High School, while other sports will be held at various locations across Houston.

"Competing in the Junior Olympics was great," said Trinity. "I felt very honored to be there and get to experience this great opportunity and go out there knowing what I need to work on next year," Trinity said.

Trinity runs track at Thomas Jefferson. "One thing I hope for my future is to keep running track and get a good scholarship....I want to study law," she said.

Among Trinity's biggest supporters in Texas included her grandmother Crystal Boyce, also of Boiling Springs, and her Coach Tasia Lowrance of Forest City.

Lowrance said she met first met Trinity when she was a participating in middle school track and field.

"She slipped coming out of the 100m dash and literally hawked down every athlete and won," Lawrence began. "That told me a lot about her. I learned from her Coach at TJ that she was just in the sixth grade. My mouth hit the floor and I immediately wanted to work with her. I saw so much of her in myself but I waned her to have a better experience," said Lowrance.

Trinity later asked Lowrance for her help during the Tri Conference Track and Field meet.

"For her first time ever running Track as a 6th grader, joining the Triple Threat Sports Performance & Fitness to setting PRs (personal records), Trinity made a name for herself," Lawrence added.
