W G "Jack" Silvers, age 89

W G "Jack" Silvers, age 89, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Jack was born March 21, 1930 to the late Irvin Silvers and Nettie Morgan Ferree. In addition to his natural father he was raised by a step-father, Luther Ferree. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Jack worked for Cone Mills-Cliffside Plant for many years and retired from Doran Mills. He was a member of Village Chapel in Forest City. Jack loved gardening, enjoyed NASCAR and woodworking.

In addition to his parents and step-father, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Mary Waters Silvers.

Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Trish Robbins (Ronnie) of Forest City, Darlene Addington (Tim) of Ellenboro, and Jackie Harrelson of Spindale; two sisters; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in the Avondale-Caroleen-Henrietta Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
