Walter "Gene" Hancock, age 76

Walter "Gene" Hancock, age 76, of Union Mills, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019.

He was son of the late Walter Stewart Hancock and the late Marie White and a native of Rutherford County. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Conner Hancock, his son Avery S. Hancock and his step-father Roy White. He was a member of Centennial United Methodist Church. Gene retired from REMC as a lineman with 33 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, country music and Elvis.

He is survived by One Daughter: Catina Melton and her husband Mitch. One Son: Walter E. Hancock Jr., and his wife Janet Rosey. 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The Funeral service was held at Gilkey United Methodist Church. Interment followed.
