Wayne D. Mitchem, age 75, of Forest City

Wayne D. Mitchem, age 75, of Forest City, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026.

Wayne was born February 15, 1951 in Rutherford County to the late Earl C. Mitchem and Lottie Mae Carswell Mitchem. Wayne was a graduate of Chase High School Class of 1971. He worked as a machinist for Timken for over 30 years. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Ellenboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Keith Mitchem and Kenneth Mitchem.

Those left to honor his legacy include his wife of 56 years Sheila Capps Mitchem; daughter Shawna Mitchem Jenkins; son Mark Mitchem (Tracie); grandsons Avery Jenkins, Alex Jenkins and Hayden Mitchem (Savannah); and great-granddaughter Kinley Mitchem.

A memorial service was held August 13 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny McCarty and Rev. Jerry Causby officiating.
