Wendell Ray Teague, known to many as "Pete," age 67, of Rutherfordton

Wendell Ray Teague, known to many as "Pete," age 67, of Rutherfordton, passed away January 4, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Cleo Teague, and his parents-in-law, Vernon and Naomi Conner.

Pete was a graduate of R-S Central High School and worked for over 25 years at Manual Wood Workers, where he served as plant manager. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton and also attended Gilkey Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tammy Teague; his daughter, Tabitha Teague; his son, Johnathon Teague (Michelle); a granddaughter Mackenzie Teague and his sisters, Katrinia Stokes (Dion) and Sherrie Owens (Calvin) and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was a trumpet player and a member of the Ol' Jazz 74 Band.

A memorial service was held January 8 in Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Todd Justice and Rev. Keith Stephenson officiating.
