William “J.E.” Bennett, age 73

William “J.E.” Bennett, age 73, of Forest City, NC, passed away August 18, 2012.

J.E. was born March 12, 1939 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Conway Bennett and Bertha Norville Bennett.  He worked in textiles for many years and was known as a “Master’ carpenter.  He was a member of Alexander Missionary Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, bluegrass music, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of almost 52 years, Jackie Smith Bennett; two sons, William “Matthew” Bennett, Sr. of Forest City and Mark Ansel Bennett and wife, Lesley of Mooresboro; one daughter, Sherry Bennett Gilliam of Forest City; six brothers, Calvin Bennett, Bruce Bennett and wife, Linda, Teddy Bennett, Timmy Bennett, David Bennett, Scott Bennett and wife, Starla all of Ellenboro; three sisters, Nan Tesseniar and husband, Arnold of Bostic, Diane Bennick and husband, Ted of Shingle Hollow and Patsy Boon and husband, Rev. Ronnie Boone of Mooresboro.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren andfive great grandchildren.     

A graveside service was conducted in Eternal Hills Cemetery with Reverend Howard Hardin and Reverend Michael Ruff officiating.
