The 2013 Women Together will again keep with its theme of living, loving and laughing when professional speaker and humorist Jeanne Robertson takes the stage at Isothermal Community College’s Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Robertson, a Miss Congeniality winner in the Miss America Pageant, leaves audiences not only with a smile on their faces, but also thinking about her message – that a sense of humor is not only a laughing matter, but a strategy for success.

“Jeanne Robertson is the perfect fit for our annual theme of ‘Living, Loving and Laughing,’” said Jill Miracle, executive director of Rutherford Regional Health Foundation. “Our guests will leave the show with smiles on their faces and the knowledge that they have helped provide care for women who need care during a pivotal point in their lives.”

In addition to speaking engagements, Robertson is also the author of several books and in 2001 was named North Carolinian of the Year by the North Carolina Press Association.

Those who attend Robertson’s performance should plan to come early to view the Lilly Oncology on Canvas and Statesville Stained Glass exhibits. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m., and Robertson’s performance will begin at 3.

Tickets for Robertson’s performance are $29 and $24 and may be purchased by calling Isothermal’s box office at 828-286-9990 or online at Foundationshows.org. Rutherford Internal Medicine Associates and 21st Century Oncology are sponsors of Robertson’s performance.

Women Together is Rutherford Regional Health Foundation’s annual event to provide financial support for women’s programs offered through the Rutherford Regional Cancer Resource Center. Proceeds from the 2013 show will be used to pay for mammograms for uninsured women in the Rutherford County area and to sustain the Cancer Patient Navigator program for women from their diagnosis with cancer through their recovery.
