The first-ever Freedom Fest, a joint collaboration between the Towns of Rutherfordton, Forest City and Ellenboro, the Forest City Owls and Rutherford County Chamber was held on July 4th at McNair Field.

Those who embark on the Gold Mile trail in Rutherfordton may not realize that each gold coin denoting the one-mile loop is a handmade, original piece of art.

Elsie Blice Hoffman, age 87 of Forest City, passed away July 5, 2016.

Ernest Caldwell Jackson, age 78 of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away at home after an extended illness.

Frank Edward Keeter, age 85 of Forest City passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016.

Johnnie Ella Wall Bowen Plumley, age 84, of Forest City, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016.

Joseph Dudley Hall, Jr., age 77, of Forest City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 8, 2016.

Mrs. Mary Jolley Henson, 73, passed away July 4, 2016 at her residence.

William C. "Bill" Bridges, age 86, of Forest City, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016.

It seems, years ago, I simply reacted when hunting season came. The preparation phase lasted only about a month. The reason was because I hunted area farms.
