Are you up for something new?

A friend shared a story through our website at www.ListentoLife.org about learning to fly.  He didn’t learn to make a career of it or even to fly full-time as he hasn’t been up in several years.  For him it was about the challenge of trying something new.

He still remembers the first time his instructor hopped out and said, “Take it up for three landings.  I’ll be on the radio if you need me.”  His heart raced.  He felt uncertainty building.  But after his first touchdown, his confidence built more greatly than anything.

He loves seeing the world from above, not high up like in a commercial jet.  Just high enough to see people wave and cheer as you pass by their homes and fields.

Risk and reward are closely tied together in life and work.  When you try something new, when you jump out of your box of familiarity and launch into the wild blue yonder of the unfamiliar, the reward is seeing the world in an amazing new way.  So try something new today as you Live Positive and Work Positive in a negative world.

It was only about thirty minutes after daylight when a doe and spike showed up under my tree stand. I had planned on putting some meat in my freezer and this doe would have been perfect, but I just couldn’t make myself let go of an arrow. I watched, waited, contemplated, and analyzed and still couldn’t shoot the very thing I had come after. But here’s the rest of the story. Only fifteen minutes earlier, as I was glassing the field in front of me, I saw a nice buck.

Shelby Gets Past Chase Again; The Other 3 Schools Earn Wins

Last Friday was another good night on the gridiron as Rutherford County went 3-1, but all four had a good showing.

It’s bound to happen one day, but last Friday night wasn’t the night. Shelby had a 48-0-1 record against the Chase Trojans in football. Everything went well for nearly a half for Chase, but Shelby roared back for a 35-10 outcome.

What is it about babies that we just love so much?

When our first daughter was born, my brother came to visit us.   Our daughter was old enough to travel so my brother wanted to take her to the mall on a little shopping trip.  You know, the kind of shopping trip where the single uncle spoils his new niece.

So we packed him up and off they went.  When he returned several hours later, he said, “People love babies.  Everywhere I went, people stopped me and wanted to see her and talk with her.”  Being single, he especially liked it when the attractive women stopped him.

What is it about babies that we love?  Babies are just so real, so honest, so much themselves.  They need something, they let you know.  Otherwise, life is great and they smile and coo and play.  They’re innocent, not requiring a whole lot that we can’t provide.

Babies really inspire us to do the same, to live a simple life; to enjoy the present moment because babies don’t worry about yesterday or tomorrow.

Live Positive like a baby today as you make a positive life in a negative world.

Outdoor Truths
I think every outdoorsman likes to think he could survive in some extreme conditions or circumstances when others could not. I often give thought to different scenarios when I’m outdoors. I think about what I would do or what supplies I would like to have if I were suddenly stranded. My first thought is a fully equipped camper with satellite TV and the NFL Sunday Ticket along with some gourmet coffee and my wife there to enjoy it all with me.

An Athletic East Rutherford Nipped By A Solid Kings Mountain Club
An Athletic East Rutherford Nipped By A Solid Kings Mountain Club
A year ago East Rutherford football mixed up their offense and just had up and down defensive nights. This past Friday, I viewed an East Rutherford team that I’m more familiar in seeing. While they still lost 21-14 to a very good Kings Mountain team, the Cavaliers ran the ball well and did a great job on defense for most of the night.
