How do you relax?
It takes me a little while to unwind and really enjoy myself when I go to the beach for even a brief vacation. One trip, I made a new friend who helped me detox from working. My friend’s name was Austin.
Austin was 4 years old and loved playing. He worked his way over to behind my beach chair and started digging a hole. He kept grunting like he needed some help. So I turned around and asked him what he was doing. “I’m trying to dig a hole. You want to help? My name is Austin and I’m four years old and you sure are tall.”
What could I say but “Yes, thanks for asking?” Before I knew it, we were not only digging holes, but covering his feet with water as he stood in the hole. Next we built bridges up and down the beach. Then we had horse races that he consistently won…unless he fell off in which case I became a paramedic in an ambulance coming to repair his broken leg or arm or head. My imagination got quite a work-out as Austin helped me play and relax.

While deer hunting is fun and can be successful during anytime of the season, there is really one brief period that every hunter looks forward to; the rut. It’s that time of year when bucks are the most active and when they are the most likely to be roaming around all throughout the day. Not only do we hunters look forward to that phase of deer hunting like no other, it is also the period we spend the most time planning for. If one includes the days of pre-rut activity, this whole phase only lasts about three weeks. That’s not a long time when you consider the length of the season and the amount of time that most people can actually be in the woods. Only T.V personalities can spend twenty straight days hunting deer. The rest of us want to keep our wives and remember the names of our children.
For those who counted R-S Central out of the Rutherford County Championship on the gridiron this year after a 1-3 start…last Friday night landed them in major contention again.
They only have to beat East Rutherford at home on November 1st to be the outright champs for the first time since 2009.
There are many people who are hungry in North Carolina. This fact is the reason behind an organization named Hunters For The Hungry. It was founded in 1993. It is an amazing, non-profit organization which utilizes a very practical approach for feeding high protein venison to those in need. Everyone can be a part of this either by harvesting deer or making a contribution to the organization.

Do you step outside of yourself?
Parking your car is one of those skills you have that you might not think much about. I mean, you go somewhere, find a parking space, and pull in, right?
But somewhere along the way, someone helped you get started parking.
It was our daughter’s turn to get started parking. So she drove into a parking lot, and started to pull in a space. We had talked ahead of time about what to look at, when to turn the wheel, and that kind of thing, but there’s nothing like doing it for the first time. So she pulled in, put the car in park, and said, “So how did I do?”
And I said, “Let’s get out and see.” The both of us hopped out of the car and she evaluated her parking job, noting where she could have done better, while celebrating that she was between the lines.
When was the last time you stepped outside of your work or home to evaluate what kind of job you’re doing? The outside perspective really helps a lot in deciding how you’re doing. You can see your performance better.
So today as you Live Positive and Work Positive, step outside of yourself, and see what kind of job you’re doing.

The leaves are changing color and are beginning to fall. In my area, this is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Thousands will come to see the autumn colors that blanket the mountains of East Tennessee. The protective canopy that had surrounded us hunters just a few weeks ago will now surrender its leaves and expose us as an unwanted intruder. The forest will change, led by the leaves on each tree. This is a change orchestrated by God. Over the years, I have made the claim that I have never met an atheist hunter. Anyone who is outside as much as a hunter understands that even though we may not understand how He did it, when He did it, or why He did it; we believe Somebody bigger than you and me created this earth that we live on.
