Tyler White showing well in MLB Rookie Class; Post 423 makes postseason
Tyler White showing well in MLB Rookie Class; Post 423 makes postseason

Things sure have formed quickly for the former Chase High School graduate as Tyler White became a Houston Astro. He was assigned to Orlando, Florida for Major League rookie ball and is now starting at third base for that rookie ball team. Wait, it gets even better!

Since joining the club for the last seven games, White currently is batting .429 on average, has 12 hits in 28 at-bats, with two doubles, a homer and eight RBI. While there will be some ups and down, it’s a great start for White in Florida.

Outdoor Truths
Outdoor Truths
I love the outdoors but you can be assured of the fact that sooner or later accidents will happen. Most of the time these are minor and not worth mentioning. On other occasions they are more climatic and the setbacks are longer. Not only do accidents happen during our outdoor activities but they also happen in our everyday lives. Again, most of the time, they are minor inconveniences that are soon forgotten about. How many of us fishermen can remember the day or days that we dropped a rod into the lake or when we stepped on one and broke it?

What ranks highest with you?
After Pearl Harbor, General Theodore Roosevelt was flying on a plane and seats were hard to come by.  At a stop, priority was served on a very young sailor, but he wouldn’t get off the plane.  “I want to see my mother,” he said.
“Sorry son,” the ticket agent said, “There’s a war on, you know.”
Having heard all of this, General Roosevelt stepped up to the counter and said, “Give him my seat.  I’ll take a later plane.”
A friend of Roosevelt’s walked up, having heard him give up his seat, and said, “Teddy, nobody is going to believe this when I tell it.  Aren’t you in a hurry, too?”
And General Roosevelt said, “It’s a matter of rank.  I’m only a general.  He’s a son.”
I guess respecting someone else’s rank depends on who’s doing the ranking, doesn’t it?  Some ranks are just more important than others and not necessarily the ones we think of.  Family ranks highest.
As you make a positive life today, what ranks highest with you?

Time Ticking On Post 423 Season; Owls Coming Around As First Half Draws To A Close

A young team who yearns for a confidence booster. That’s exactly the Rutherford County Post 423 Senior Legion team in a nutshell this season. The bad part is that they need to get going to make a postseason spot.

Post 423 (4-6) goes 1-3 this past week and have six games left in the regular season. Right now, they sit eighth out of nine teams, but within three games of being in fourth.

Unless you are in school, the summer is not considered to be most people’s favorite time of year. We usually choose the spring or fall because of the comfortable temperatures and the changes that can be easily seen in the environment around us. In the spring the trees bloom, the plants grow, and the wildlife is preparing for new life. In the fall those same trees, plants, and wildlife prepare for the colder and dormant days of winter. But what about the summer? As a child, these were my favorite days. The hotter the sun got, the better the swimming pool felt. I can’t ever remember complaining about the heat when I was young. Now I am tempted to do it every day.

Are you aging today?

I was thinking about aging the other day.  It seems to me that we want to live to be 100 years old, but none of us want to look it.  We want to be 100, but look 25.  So we rub lotions and potions on our wrinkles to hide them.  And when we can’t hide them, we inject them with botox.  And when that doesn’t work, we nip, tuck, lift, and pull.

And what about our hair and teeth?  We don’t want our hair to turn white, but we can’t get our teeth white enough.   So we put stuff on our hair to keep the white covered up and stuff on our teeth to bleach the brown.  We want our teeth white and our hair dark.
