Racing & Baseball Highlight Memorial Weekend

This past weekend was one of my favorites in the entire year as the Memorial Holiday Sunday races that are the Indy 500 and the Coke 600.

In the 97th running of the Indy 500, it was somewhat like Dale Earnhardt in trying to win the Daytona 500 back in 1998. It took Earnhardt 20 years of trying in Daytona, but on Sunday Tony Kanaan finally got his chance to capture the Indy 500.

What do you do when you’re looking at a mountain of a job?

A friend and I were talking about his decision to drink a gallon of water every day to improve his health.

“At first that seemed like a lot,” he said. “I’d fill up a gallon pitcher and look at it and think, ‘I can never drink all of that.’”

“So how do you do it?” I asked.

A friend recently turned 40 and her husband threw her a most excellent birthday party, complete with lots of friends and family, great food, wonderful music, and a slide show that covered all of her 40 years. After the slide show, he asked her if she wanted to say something, and she did.

I don’t exactly remember how my phobia came about, and even though it doesn’t incapacitate me, I still pause when I’m confronted with its likelihood. My phobia? Thunderstorms. I really don’t think it was a childhood struggle. I assume at that time in my life I had enough sense to get in out of the rain. But I think that it happened when I was a young adult and thought that I was with the “in” crowd…
