Got twenty-five cents?
If I told you that for about twenty-five cents you can buy something that will focus your thoughts completely and allow you to communicate clearly, what would you do?  Go out and buy it?
Of course you would.  With all of the distractions going on around us 24/7 today—like cell phones and email and text messages and mp3 players—it’d be great to focus completely, wouldn’t it?
You know it would.  And with so many distractions, it’s a real challenge to say what you mean and mean what you say, isn’t it?
But for about twenty-five cents all of that can be cured…when you purchase a pencil.
Your full attention is automatically focused on a thought when you sit down with a pencil in your hand.  The pencil ties your mind to that thought.
Try writing something today about a positive experience. Your full attention will focus on that positive outcome and fill you with confidence that you can do it again. Write down your Positive Life as you Listen to Life today.

Outdoor Truths
Outdoor Truths
I’ve noticed lately how the fishermen are getting amped up for the spring tournaments. A recent trip to my local bait shop confirmed my suspicions. There were brochures everywhere promoting those upcoming events. But another thing I’ve noticed is how bad the weather has been lately. I guess it’s normal for this time of year, but there are usually some good weekends when the fishermen can get on the lake, find where the fish are, and experiment with what they might be hitting. If everything stays the way it is now there will be no early preparation. It will be practice as you go. There are, however, a few things that most anglers already have in their bag of tricks; namely that they have done this before. They will begin their pursuit at the places that have produced in times past.

Refurbished Forest City Mural Now Has 105 Hidden Objects
There are three things that are very distinguished features in Forest City. One is the downtown fountain, second is the famous clock in front of Mountain First Bank and last, since the year 2000, the Clive Haynes mural, which takes up an entire city block.

High School Hoops Season Over For County
High School Hoops Season Over For County

Over three months of basketball is officially over for Rutherford County as all four county teams that made the postseason were dropped in the first week.

No matter what the East Rutherford men’s team did this season, they couldn’t find a way to beat Shelby. After destroying Madison in the first round, it was another trip back to Shelby, but fell for the fourth time this season to the Golden Lions, 71-67. They held another double-digit lead before it came unraveled late.

I’ve always been a country boy at heart and even though I longed to leave in my high school years, there was something that drew me back to the humble surroundings of my country way of living. It’s not always easy balancing this lifestyle with progress. It almost doesn’t seem right to want a rustic log cabin with a microwave. I want cows and dogs but a big screen T.V. would be nice as well. And I’m sure that even though my wife wants a clothes line in the back yard, she sure couldn’t do without her heavy duty washer and dryer. I want a garden but I’d sure rather plow it with a new John Deere rather than an old mule.

Got any old tools lying around?
Have you ever been rummaging through a drawer and discovered an old tool that you had lost?  It could be a screwdriver or a pair of scissors or a hammer.  When you find it, a tidal wave of memories comes with it.
Around our house we have a pair of scissors that belonged to my wife’s mother.  They’re dull and we don’t use them much, but every time we stumble on them we think of her mom.  We also have a ladder that’s kinda dangerous to use—it leans and you have to be careful climbing it.  But that ladder belonged to my wife’s dad so every time we use it we remember him.
Have you got any old tools lying around in your emotions?  Do you believe the way you did when you were a child—believe that someone will take care of you and feed you?  The kind of believing in the impossible that you might have lost as you grew older?
Rummage around within yourself and begin to believe again.  Remember the times when you saw the impossible become possible.  Believe so that you can make a positive life, not just a living, in a negative world.
