Grace Of God Rescue Mission...

18 Years Later, Still Helping People Turn Their Lives Around

18 years ago, Chris Davis and Denver Buchanan from Chase Baptist Church saw the need and organized what became “The Grace Of God Rescue Mission”. They had visited Shelby’s Rescue Mission and discovered that one third of the people in Shelby were from Rutherford County. They saw the need and fulfilled it.

Today their mission has not only got stronger but is now in the midst of creating “Grace Acres Gardens and Park”, close to the men’s shelter. The giving and caring nature of this organization can be overwhelming.

Cavs Fall at Easter Tourney Again, Thomas Jefferson Baseball Catching Fire
East Rutherford High baseball has won everything , including five state titles, but they have yet to win their own Easter tourney.

East Rutherford found themselves in the championship game for the fourth time in five years, but lost 11-0 to South Caldwell in Easter Tourney finals at McNair. South Caldwell is a very good baseball team, which moved a JV squad from two years ago up that could have beaten a number of high school teams then. That’s how talented the Spartans have been as of late.

At KidSenses! An Egg-Stra Ordinary Event!
At KidSenses in Rutherfordton on Friday, April 6th, it was a super special occasion. Lines of youngsters waited patiently to participate in an awe inspiring Easter Egg event. KidSenses Program Coordinator, Betsy Krigbaum, put together an Egg Dye Extravaganza! All the participating kids were given two eggs to dye and they could choose any color they wanted. Also, in addition to decorating the eggs, the youngsters made craft flowers or designed their own magnetic foam egg. It all started at 5:30 and went on until 8 p.m.

Chase Softball Unbeaten No More; East Rutherford Baseball Awakens
The South Mountain Athletic Conference maybe the most competitive in league history this year, it’s in softball where there is no room for error.

East Rutherford (11-1, 5-1) got the best of Chase (7-1, 5-1) last week on the softball field with a 5-2 triumph. It’s the first loss for a very solid Chase softball team this season. Jaclyn Boever notched the win for East, as she has been phenomenal on the mound this season.

Outdoor Truths
Outdoor Truths
I don’t consider myself computer illiterate but I’m also not a tech expert. I fall somewhere in-between. I used to spend more time learning about new gadgets but now I sort of just maintain until I’m forced to adapt or be left behind. One of the things that I’m trying to adapt to is my digital camera. I know, I know, don’t laugh. I’ve actually had the camera for a couple of years but all I’ve been doing is taking pictures the simplest way I could. I just thought all of the buttons where there so they could sell it for more. (I feel the same way about my cell phone. Why can’t they just give me big numbers, lots of volume, and plenty of light?) I digress.

Listen To Life
What are you thinking about?

I was in the Washington, DC area, driving through some of what I’m convinced is the eternal road construction there. So here I am driving slowly in traffic when I see beside me this huge motor grader running about 35 mph on what will be a road. It looks like it’s carrying about 20 tons of dirt in it, and its moving faster than I am.

Well, up on top of this gigantic piece of equipment carrying all of that dirt is a little man, sitting in a cab, both hands on the steering wheel.  He weighs a fraction of the equipment and dirt, but still controls it.
