Baseball: TJCA’s Win Streak Snapped, Atlanta’s Braves Not So Bad...For Now
Thomas Jefferson’s longest win streak in school history was stopped last week on the baseball field. Riding high on a six-game win streak, the Gryphons fell 8-7 to Mountain Heritage and then Polk County shut them out later in the week. Luckily, both are 2A clubs in the Western Highlands and the Gryphons still cling to a #1 playoff seed in the 1A portion of the conference for now. Thomas Jefferson is 11-6 overall and 6-5 in conference play.

Outcroppings Trail to Chimney Reopens at Chimney Rock
Outcroppings Trail to Chimney Reopens at Chimney Rock
Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park, one of the Southeast’s most iconic and popular outdoor travel destinations, reopened the Outcroppings trail on Saturday, April 14, 2012. The rebuilt trail offers new stunning views of the Park, increased capacity and improved comfort with more places to rest.  The reopening of the Outcroppings trail, which leads from the upper parking lot to the Chimney stairs, permanently restores hiking access to the Chimney, the Opera Box, Devil’s Head and Skyline trail to Exclamation Point, the highest point in the Park. The modernized elevator and Sky Lounge Gift Shop & Deli are expected to reopen sometime later this spring. Discounted admission rates as of April 14 will be $12/adult, $5/youth (ages 6-15) and free for kids under 6.

Listen To Life
Do you tell stories?

The most common question I get from emails and as I do speaking engagements is:  “How do you come up with all of those stories?”  And that’s a great question.  I write and record about 260 stories a year.

I guess there are two short answers:  One is I Listen to my Life and just share what happens.  And the second, based on the first, is I don’t do anything—writing stories, or anything else—in life alone.  I have help everywhere I go and in everything I do.

Outdoor Truths
Outdoor Truths
Spring is made for the outdoors. It seems that everything that inspires us has its beginnings outside. Whether you hunt, fish, hike, bike, run, play sports, garden, or simply mow your grass, it feels empowering to engage in all of these under the clear skies and in the clean air of springtime. While fall will mesmerize us with its panoramas, spring will motivate us with its pursuits. It is the season of life and the preparation that comes with it. The birds will build their nests; the animals will give birth to their young; and the trees and plants will unfold their blankets of green that perfectly match a sparkling blue sky. It is a painting that has been supernaturally brushed.
