Near the end of August, several weeks into the new school year, Rutherford County Schools (RCS) had 6,763 enrolled students. This is approximately 2.1% lower than the school system's official Allotted Average Daily Membership (ADM).

Martha Aileen Hoyle Allen, age 99, of Forest City, NC passed away Saturday September 19, 2026.

Tommy Douglas Foster, 63, died September 18, 2026. Born in Cleveland County, NC he was the son of the late Bub and Hazel Campbell Foster.

It is with great sadness that we announce the heavenly call of Tona Rolena Wilson McDaniel, 68, on Thursday, September 10, 2026. She was born to the late Richard Leon Wilson and Linda Rogers Wilson in Gaston County, NC. She is also predeceased by her sister, Sharon Wilson.
