R-S Girls, East Boys End Dream Seasons in Elite Eight
It was tough ending for Rutherford County hoops in the Regionals this past week.

R-S Central’s girls, under the direction of Darius Fuller made a great effort in Greensboro, but lost to Hickory 62-56, last Tuesday. The Lady Hilltoppers proved that they indeed were for real this season in the 3A ranks, but nine more made free throws by Hickory sent R-S Central (25-3) home two rounds shy of a state title.

Outdoor Truths
I recall my first trip to the turkey woods. I was blessed to be able to go with one of the local experts. I didn’t know what to expect, but that didn’t quell the excitement. As usual I got very little sleep the night before and was up early enough to make sure I wouldn’t be late for my appointment. We traveled about 50 minutes before arriving at the bottom of the mountain. My guide said “watch this” and he slammed the door of his truck. The response was immediate and memorable; a gobble from the top of the ridge and only about 300 yards away.

Listen To Life
It’s that time of year again—the cold and virus season.  Unfortunately I came down with a cold that turned into bronchitis.  It took me about three weeks to feel some better.  So I was feeling pretty rotten for a while.

One day, I managed to make it to my office so I could answer some email and do a little writing.  I opened an email from a friend who listens to life through our website at www.ListentoLife.org.  She wrote that her husband would soon have surgery to remove the top lobe of his lung to remove a tumor.

Two Rutherford Co. Hoops Teams Make Regionals, Three Fall In Second Place
Two Rutherford Co. Hoops Teams Make Regionals, Three Fall In Second Place
When we left off last week, all five high school teams that had made the state playoffs in Rutherford County had advanced into the second round. Later on in the week, R-S Central’s boys, Thomas Jefferson’s boys and the East Rutherford’s girls ended the season with second round loses on the road.

However, the R-S Central girls and the East Rutherford boys won rounds two and three, which places them into the Western Regionals in Greensboro this week. Only three more wins stand in the way of a title for those two remaining in postseason play.

What a great time of the year! It’s March Madness, which for me means basketball, fishing, and turkey season. It has to be one of the most testosterone filled months of they year. Can I get an ARRRRGHHH from all of the pickup drivin’, gun toten’, camouflage wearin’ men in the house? There’s nothing like clean fun!
