This past Friday, July 1st, the Forest City Owls hosted an international event.
It was another small town show of pride parade that was just one of thousands in America. The Big Day In Ellenboro July 4th Parade, brought the community together. First the parade down Main Street, bedecked with flfl ags all along the route.

A team combined to represent Rutherford County’s Post 423 this season in legion baseball fell short of its goals and lost in the first round of the 2011 playoffs, thus ending the season a bit earlier than planned.
Post 423, who made it to the region finals and then advanced to the state tourney in 2010, just couldn’t find its mojo like it had late last season.
An injury that sidelined their starting second baseman, Blake Myers and then losing two key pitchers late, really hurt as the regular season closed.
How’s your flow?
Last winter, I cleaned out the gutters on our home. Not my favorite thing to do, but it’s one of those “necessary” home chores.
Well, I thought that once was enough, that the gutters would be clean until next fall when the leaves fell again. But I discovered that wasn’t the case at all.
The idea in portaging between several lakes in northern Minnesota was to get to the most remote fishing areas. The hope is to go a little farther than most would go in order to catch the fish that see very little human activity.

Many people in the county are amped up for the Owls game this Friday. Forest City will host international powerhouse, Japan in a exhibition contest.
While Forest City boast a reputation of winning the past two Pettit Cup’s, a challenge from Team Japan is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The task of playing such a club and the style of ball that Japan can display makes this whole situation a huge deal as well.
Is it hot where you live?
It was one of the first hot summer days of the year. I was working outside on our farm. I don’t know about you, but it takes me a few times of working outside in the heat for my body to adjust. Since this was one of the first hot days, my body had not adjusted yet. So I was feeling pretty hot, sweaty, and tired out there working away.
