Down Syndrome Support Group Picnic
New Down Syndrome support group in Cleveland Co. We are a sub-group of the DSAC (Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte). Picnic held Sat. Sept. 17, 4-7pm at Optimist Park, 1007 Mark Drive Shelby. Not even two years ago, Chase had a coaching carousel to deal with, but current football coach and Chase alum, Daniel Bailey never hesitated in becoming the next Trojan football coach.
With only a few short weeks to prepare, Bailey stepped in and became the leader of a solid group of football players, going just 2-9 last year. This past Friday, they matched last year’s mark as they dispatched of Chesnee 35-14 on the road to stay undefeated on the season.

For many deer hunters, late August is the time to plant fall and winter crops. Hopefully by now, the fields have been prepared and are ready to receive whatever seed one has decided to sow. The trick now is to simply wait until a good rain is predicted. (Which is rare in many places) The idea is to plant just before the rain so that the seed will have a better chance of taking root. It truly is amazing how much difference a season of hunting can be if there are fields sown with some of the deer’s favorite grasses.

30th Annual Historic Morganton Festival
Sept. 10 & 11. The Festival opens Friday at 3pm with a sampling of fine arts and crafts, festival cuisine, a wine garden featuring NC Wineries; kid and teen zones and 4 stages. Don Williams. He came out of retirement to go on tour, once again. To share an evening with him is to share messages that are loved and remembered. You don’t come to a Don Williams concert to hear him. You come to cuddle and absorb the smooth baritone singing of a man who is now known and loved throughout the world. The first week of High School football is over which came with mixed results among the four teams.
However, the contest of the week was no doubt R-S Central versus McDowell on the gridiron.
Following a missed McDowell extra point with under four minutes to go that clanged off the left upright R-S Central ran out the clock to survive a 21-20 win at home.

Since Spring I have wanted to spend a night on the river; camping and fishing. I have a friend who owns the perfect place. It is secluded and this part of the river is rarely fished. Last week I made that trip. Except for the fact that I forgot my sleeping bag mat, it turned out to be all that I had hoped for.
