When Chimney Rock Baptist Church (CRBC) observes its 100th birthday on Sunday, August 30, church family, former members, friends and others will gather to celebrate the past, present and look toward the future. No doubt some friendships will be renewed and stories will be shared of times long ago.

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and significant other, Uriel Santiago-Caban age 67, on Sunday, August 9, 2026. He was born to the late Carlos Sanitago and Paula Caban in Moca, Puerto Rico.

Ashley Lynn Quick, age 60 of West Jefferson, NC and Forest City died Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Barbara Ruth White Matheny, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, August 14, 2026.

Dwight "Buddy" Francis Ferguson, 88, of Rutherfordton, passed away August 16, 2026.

The Lord called Genia Marie Tessneer Doster home Tuesday, July 21, 2026. She was born to the late Richard Gene and Faye Lail Tessneer of Grover, NC. She was preceded in death by her sister, Revonda Gail Tessneer.

Howard Louie Patterson, age 88, of Rutherfordton, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026.

Karen Loftis, age 75, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away July 26, 2026.

Phyllis Blanton Norman, affectionately known to those who loved her as "Punkin," of Rutherford County, NC passed away August 12, 2026, at the age of 57.

Vera Rebecca Underwood, age 76, went home to be with her Lord on August 17 2026.

Wayne D. Mitchem, age 75, of Forest City, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026.

William W. Brown age 67 of Charlotte died Saturday, August 8, 2026. William was born August 21, 1958, in Rutherford County and was the son of the late William L. Brown and Helen Callahan Brown. He worked as an Automation and Control Engineer.
