How are you transforming life?

A journalist was assigned the Lebanon beat.  Walking through the bombed-out streets of Beirut one day, he heard some beautiful music coming from a doorway.  He wandered over to where the music was being played and there saw a young boy playing a flute.

The music was beautiful, but the flute was the weirdest looking instrument he had ever seen.  He approached the young boy carefully, but the child stopped playing when he saw the journalist.  Then the boy handed the journalist the instrument.

Basketball playoffs are just around the corner, but this week are the SMAC and Western Highland tourneys.

East Rutherford’s boys will not be the number one seed as they lost to Shelby last week for a second time this season, but they may get a third chance at them very soon.

On the boys side of the South Mountain Athletic Conference bracket, whomever wins the Chase at R-S Central game went to Shelby to play the Golden Lions on Wednesday night.

Perhaps one of the best tools that have been added to the sportsman’s gear box has been the laser rangefinder. It has lessened the learning curve tremendously. What was once the primary focus of information in order to make a good shot, is now almost taken completely out of the process. To know the distance to our target one must simply point this small gadget at the mark and push a button. Within a second a yardage distance is given that is accurate to within a few feet. Now, gun and bow hunters alike can take aim with confidence knowing this variable is managed for them. It has changed the game. And not only has this technology infiltrated the hunting industry but golfers are stuffing their bags with this little gadget as well. But an even greater use has come from our military. Our marksmen are now able to have a quick and accurate way to measure the distance to a threatening target.

One of the wildlife success stories in my area is the reintroduction of the elk. While Tennessee is coming along more slowly, Kentucky now has a heard of over 10,000 and last year over 800 tags were issued to hunters. And there is over a 90% success rate for those hunters. Today Kentucky has the largest elk herd east of the Rocky Mountains. Now that is what I call success. And what makes this even more amazing to me is the fact that this reintroduction took place less than 15 years ago.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of helping to guide a friend in harvesting a big healthy cow. This was a first for me and him. It was an unbelievable experience and one that has excited me for the possibilities of next year.

Got a guide?
A friend of mine went rock climbing.  He emailed me some pictures from his adventure.  One shot was from the bottom of the rock he climbed, looking straight up a sheer face that was really tall.  Several others were from various places along the way.
I asked him, “How did you climb straight up like that?”
He said, “The guy I climbed with is experienced.  He had all the safety ropes in place so there was virtually no way to get hurt if you did what he told you.  He said to relax and climb on up so I did.”
My friend went on to say, “And it was a real confidence booster for me because if I can climb a rock like that, then I can do lots of other things I’ve never done.”
Are you Listening to Life with my friend?  He had a guide.  He relaxed and climbed on up.  He did something he wasn’t sure he could and is more confident.
Today find your guide. It’s a key to Conceive a Live Positive lifestyle. Relax and climb on up your life’s challenge.  Do something you’re not sure about and grow confident as you Listen to Life and Live Positive.
