East Falls Short of 6th Title
It was all or nothing for East Rutherford on the final play of Saturday’s decisive game three against Randleman in the 2A baseball championship series.

Ridge Beheler doubled down the line in left field with Taylor Peyton standing on first base. However, Peyton tried to tie the game, but was thrown out at the plate with a spot on throw, losing 8-7. Read More ...

Team spirit leader, Catcher Lucas Owens, #2 gets the high five from second baseman Senior Blake Myers #12.
An Amazing Showcase!
(Raleigh, N.C.) It can’t be denied. The second and third game of the championship series at NC State’s Doak Field in Raleigh, N. C. is an outstanding example! The East Rutherford High School Cavaliers definitely proved, one again, that they set the standard for high school baseball in all of North Carolina. Coach Bobby Reynolds and his staff infuse in the Cavaliers a “can do spirit” and a “never give up attitude” which is unparalleled. What transpired as they went after their sixth state championship is a prime example. Read More ...

Outdoor Truths
I’ve always heard that writing is more about perspiration than inspiration. It’s true. Even though it is very fulfilling to write about the outdoors, it is also difficult at times to continue to find worthy subjects and stories. Sometimes my mind soars with information faster than my fingers can type. Other times, those same fingers seem like they’re waiting impatiently for the next command. During the times of inspiration, I can’t wait to get to the computer. During other times, I dread its call. Every writer loves the moments of inspiration.  Read More ...

Rutherford Weekly’s Favorite Reader Recipes 6/9/11
I just took off my cookbook shelf that 324 page Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cookbook “That We May Live”. This Forest City cookbook is chock full of all good things to make and enjoy. With the weather in the high 90’s, I believe it would be a great idea to go to the kitchen and make some good things to go with crackers on a summers night. Read More ...

 Opinion

Listen To Life
Do you persevere when a problem is chasing you?

I really love bluebirds. I’m constantly looking for new places to put boxes for them to nest in.

I noticed a pair of bluebirds building in one box in early spring.  I also saw a mockingbird hanging around, chasing the bluebirds away from the box; even sitting on top of the box.  But the bluebirds kept building anyway. Read More ...
